To create opportunities for the continuity and promotion of the education of the teaching professionals in the area of Languages and Literature and similar areas, improving the scientific and pedagogical practice of these professionals in different levels of teaching;
To qualify graduates and specialists of the mentioned areas for the accomplishment of research activities in the sphere of linguistic and literary studies, providing them the access and discussion of methodological and theoretical assumptions, basis of the investigation practices;
To prepare teachers for the field of higher education, qualifying the scientific and pedagogical practice of these professionals of Languages and Linguistics and similar areas;
To advance in actions, with prospective character, of social-communitarian, cultural and educational intervention, mainly in the area of coverage of the University of Passo Fundo, aiming at the education of conscious, critical and aesthetically sensitive subjects;
To prepare qualified researchers in the sphere of linguistic and literary studies, providing them discussions, advances and renewal of the methodological and theoretical assumptions that are the basis for the investigation in the context of reading and discursive production.
To invest in the education of qualified professionals for the practice of research and teaching, the ones who, under a line of research and in charge of activities in an interdisciplinary perspective, are able to deal with and develop concepts regarding linguistic and literary studies.
